Coimbatore is connected by road to all major places in South India. There are regular bus services from important places such as Chennai, Madurai, Tiruchi, Salem, Udhagamandalam, etc. There are also inter-state buses from Palakkad, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Bangalore and Mysore.

By rail:

Coimbatore is a major railway junction on the Southern Railways and has trains to Chennai, Rameswaram, Madurai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Kanyakumari, Kozhikode, Mettupalayam, Kochi and Delhi.
